Guild Cottage preserves, protects, and provides counselling and intervention to the lives of sexually abused children who are sent to us as wards of the courts.
Motivated by compassion for vulnerable children and teenagers, we provide high quality and innovative services that address their social, educational, and emotional needs.
We Protect
Each girl is given the care and nurturing to enable her to grow into a dignified and empowered woman with a rightful place in society. To this end, she is given the full support to attend a suitable school until she has matriculated.
Many of our girls have been so injured by their experiences that they that they find it difficult to adapt to the conditions in ‘normal’ schools. We take special care to place each one in a school that will cater for her unique needs.
We Facilitate
We employ care givers and highly skilled professionals qualified in the various areas of therapy.
Psychotherapy and care help girls work through the impact of abuse and the development of coping skills.
Environmental therapy teaches the girls independence and gives them life skills to set appropriate boundaries.
Family therapy helps to ensure that, once treated, girls return to a safe family environment. Parents and guardians are involved to help with the healing process.
Residential Treatment
Guild Cottage is the only specialised residential treatment centre for survivors of sexual assault in South Africa.
Guild Cottage is registered as a Child and Youth Care Centre.
Under the childcare umbrella our organisation aims to restore the dignity of young girls, both mentally and physically in a safe home-style environment.
We become the home away from what was home for girls in dire need of healing and dignity.
